Terminal Service and VPN

ISU has the ability to tailor a system that will meet your particular needs.  By utilizing Terminal Service and/or a VPN, a remote connection to the ISU system can be established that will fit your needs.

The basic differences between Terminal Services and a VPN is where programs and data files are located.

With a Terminal Service installation, all programs and data reside on one server.  When multiple people are accessing the ISU System at the same time, the server must have the capacity to run multiple programs, for all users connected and have the system capacity to access numerous files simultaneously.

With a VPN installation, all programs run locally at each work station.  Therefore, the work load is spread out over multiple computers.  The contention on the server is only for file access.

After talking with you, ISU will determine the most efficient way your particular Guaranty Fund should be set up and recommend an alternative for you.

Bottom line, both methods allow multiple locations to access the ISU System simultaneously.
